John the Baptist
Zacharias and Elisabeth named their son John, which means "God is gracious". Could they ever have imagined that their only son, born to them in their sunset years, would be a prophet? Zacharias, full of the Holy Spirit, prophesied that their son John would be raised by God to be the one who prepares the way for the saviour of the world. Sometimes it is amazing how God works, His ways are far beyond our understanding. Let us learn to be patient, have faith, and watch for His leading us through our lives.
Luke 1:76 And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;

Zechariah and Elizabeth would have been proud of their son John to be forerunner of Messiah.They may not have been alive when John was assasinated by Herod for the fancy and evil design of his wife.Their sadness would have been crowned with ray of glory of obedience to God.Abraham had to consent to sacrifice his son but saved from death. But Elizabeth and Zachariahs son actually sacrificed.
