Overcome evil with good

It is so easy for us to be overcome with vengence, anxiety, jealousy, hatred, anger and so many other evil thoughts that can destroy our peace with God. St. Paul is telling us that when we feel tempted to take revenge to quench our evil desire by submitting those thoughts to God, in prayer and thanksgiving and in so doing God will repay them with what they deserve. The underlying principle is to overcome evil with good.
