Scripture: Matthew 22:36-40
As we light the Candle of Love this Advent, we are reminded of Jesus’ words: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind… and love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:37-39).
This simple yet profound commandment forms the foundation of our faith. To love God fully is to surrender our hearts, lives, and priorities to Him. Advent invites us to prepare room in our hearts for His presence—reflecting on His love poured out through the birth of Christ.
Loving our neighbor is the natural outflow of loving God. Just as Christ humbled Himself to dwell among us, we are called to extend kindness, mercy, and compassion to those around us. In this season of waiting and hope, the love of Christ compels us to serve others and reflect His light in a hurting world.
As the candle of love burns, may it ignite a deeper devotion to God and inspire us to love others selflessly.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus to show us Your perfect love. Teach us to love You with all we are and to love others as You have loved us. May our lives shine with Your love this Advent. Amen.
