The King of Love

Opening Scripture

“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you but will rejoice over you with singing.” – Zephaniah 3:17

Reflection (250 words)

The Advent candle of love reminds us of the deep and abiding love of the King who comes to rescue, restore, and rejoice over His people. Zephaniah 3:17 reveals a stunning truth: God’s love is not passive but active, a love that delights in us and sings over us with joy.

Eugene Peterson captures this relational intimacy: “Worship is the strategy by which we interrupt our preoccupation with ourselves and attend to the presence of God.” This Advent, as we prepare our hearts for Christ’s coming, we are reminded that God’s love transforms us, giving us a security that no circumstance can shake.

Richard Foster invites us to engage deeply with this reality: “To believe that God not only loves us but likes us is to step into a new freedom of joy.” This Advent season, let us embrace this freedom. The King’s love calms our fears and fills us with peace.

Let God’s delight in you guide your thoughts, actions, and relationships as you celebrate the arrival of the One who rejoices over you with joyful songs. As we light the Advent candle of love, may we bask in the truth that the King of Love has come to dwell among us, bringing joy, peace, and hope. Let His love fill your heart and overflow to those around you this season.

Closing Prayer

Loving Father,

Thank You for Your extravagant love that delights in me and calms my fears. Help me to rest in Your joy and reflect that love to others. As I prepare my heart this Advent, may Your love overflow through my life and bring glory to You. Amen.
